Solid's Prime and Ultra Tiers Now Need a FUSE Lock or a $199 Subscription
Points no longer unlock Solid's higher tiers. Prime costs $199 a year or a 12-month lock of 50,000 FUSE, and lock amounts rise on 8 October 2026.
Solid has changed how its two higher card tiers are unlocked. Under its Rewards terms, updated on 2 October 2026, points no longer decide your tier. Prime now needs a $199 annual subscription or 50,000 FUSE locked for 12 months, and Ultra needs 400,000 FUSE locked for 12 months. For locks made from 8 October 2026, the amounts rise to 70,000 and 600,000 FUSE.
Cashback on the Solid Card is unchanged: 3% on the free Core tier, 4% on Prime and 5% on Ultra, paid in USDC, with monthly caps of $50, $100 and $200.
What changed
When we covered Solid's expansion through Wirex in September, members moved up by collecting Solid Rewards points, 5,000,000 for Prime and 35,000,000 for Ultra, or by staking FUSE, which could be unstaked after a 30-day cooldown. Holding about $5,000 in Savings was enough to reach Prime in roughly six weeks without locking anything.
That route has closed. Solid's terms now say "Points do not determine your tier". Points still accrue, and Solid's help centre says they "are about to matter more than ever", with details to follow.
The routes are now:
- Core: free, for every member
- Prime: $199 a year, paid from your USDC balance and renewed automatically unless you turn renewal off, or 50,000 FUSE locked for 12 months
- Ultra: 400,000 FUSE locked for 12 months; there is no paid route
From 8 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC, a new lock needs 70,000 FUSE for Prime and 600,000 FUSE for Ultra. A lock made before then keeps the lower amount for its full 12 months. The $199 subscription price does not change.
A lock is not the old staking
Locked FUSE stays in your account and keeps earning vault yield and points, but it cannot be withdrawn, transferred, swapped or spent until the 12 months are up. Your tier ends when the lock ends unless you lock again, and FUSE that sits in Savings without being locked no longer counts toward a tier.
Two points from the terms are worth knowing before you commit: FUSE's value can rise or fall during the lock, and the subscription fee is non-refundable except where the law requires.
If you already hold Prime or Ultra
- Reached by holding FUSE in Savings: you keep the tier until 8 October 2026. Lock that FUSE before then and you keep it for 12 months at 50,000 or 400,000 FUSE.
- Reached with points: you keep the tier and its benefits until 25 October 2026. To stay on it, subscribe or lock FUSE. A lock made from 8 October is at the new amounts.
- On a free trial from Solid: it runs to its stated end date.
What Prime and Ultra include
- Cashback: 4% up to $100 a month on Prime and 5% up to $200 on Ultra, against 3% up to $50 on Core
- Subscription cashback: now in four categories, AI tools, streaming, music and gaming. Ultra gets 50% back in all four and Prime 25% in up to two. Only the first subscription in each category each month counts, it is capped at $50 per payment, and it counts toward the monthly cashback cap.
- Yield Boost, live since 1 October: an extra 2% APY on the first $10,000 of savings on Prime and 3% on the first $25,000 on Ultra, paid in soFUSE. Solid says the rate is variable.
- Lower fees: Solid's own FX fee on non-USD purchases is 1% on Core, 0.5% on Prime and nothing on Ultra, on top of a 1% card-provider fee at every tier. Bank deposits and swaps cost 0.5%, 0.25% and nothing.
Is Prime worth $199 a year?
This is our arithmetic on Solid's published rates, not Solid's.
On cashback alone, Prime pays one percentage point more than Core, so the subscription pays for itself at about $1,660 of card spending a month. Above that the gap widens quickly, because Core stops earning at its $50 cap while Prime keeps going to $100. At $2,500 a month, Prime returns $100 against Core's $50.
Two other benefits can cover the fee at lower spending. A $20 AI subscription and a $15 streaming plan would return $8.75 a month at Prime's 25%, about $105 a year. Yield Boost adds up to $200 a year on $10,000 of savings, at a rate that can change.
If you would rather lock FUSE than pay, the cost is different in kind: no fee, but 50,000 FUSE that cannot be touched for a year and whose price will move.
Also new at Solid
- Referral reward: $25 in FUSE for both people on referrals made from 8 September 2026, up from $15 in USDC. The new member has to activate the card and spend $150 across at least three merchants within 30 days, and the reward is credited about 30 days later. - Credit mode is in soft launch on Wirex-issued cards. It lets you pay against your Savings while they keep earning.
- EURC, the euro stablecoin, is being tested as a spendable card balance on selected accounts.
Solid's weekly update of 2 October also says "Something is changing in Rewards" and that the following week "is the week to pay attention", without saying what. We will update this article and the card page when it is published.

Common questions
Can I still reach Solid Prime with points?
No. Solid's Rewards terms, updated on 2 October 2026, say points do not determine your tier. Prime needs a $199 annual subscription or 50,000 FUSE locked for 12 months, and Ultra needs 400,000 FUSE locked. Members who reached a tier with points keep it until 25 October 2026.
What happens to Solid's tiers on 8 October 2026?
The FUSE needed for a new lock rises from 50,000 to 70,000 for Prime and from 400,000 to 600,000 for Ultra. A lock made before 8 October keeps the lower amount for its full 12 months, and members who hold a tier through FUSE in Savings must lock it before then to keep the tier. The $199 Prime subscription does not change.
Can I withdraw locked FUSE early?
No. Locked FUSE stays in your account and keeps earning yield and points, but it cannot be withdrawn, transferred, swapped or spent until the 12-month lock ends. The $199 annual subscription is the way to hold Prime without a lock. Ultra has no paid route.
