Solid Card
Non-custodial Visa Platinum debit card from Solid, issued by Rain or Wirex depending on your country of residence. Spend straight from your Solid balance (Savings Mode), or borrow against your savings while they keep earning yield (Credit mode, in soft launch on Wirex-issued cards). Cashback is 3% to 5% in USDC by Solid Rewards tier, with monthly caps of $50 to $200, and Prime and Ultra earn a higher category rate, 8% to 20%, on one purchase a month each with named AI, streaming, music and ride merchants, plus airlines on Ultra. Prime costs $199 a year or a 12-month lock of 50,000 FUSE; Ultra needs a 12-month lock of 400,000 FUSE.
Is the Solid Card worth it?
The Solid Card is a debit card on Visa, paying up to 5% back on spend, with no annual fee. Whether it suits you comes down to the trade-offs below.
GOOD FIT IF
- you want up to 5% back on everyday spending
- you want a card with no annual fee
- you want your crypto to stay in your own wallet until you spend it
- you want to start spending the day you sign up
THINK TWICE IF
- you're not willing to stake or hold a token to reach the headline rate
How we rate the Solid Card
- Cost25%4.0 / 5
No card, monthly or top-up fee, and no FX fee on USD purchases. On the default Core tier, non-USD purchases cost 2% in total, a 1% card-provider fee built into the rate plus Solid's own 1%, which is what sets this score. Bank deposits cost 0.5% at Core; crypto deposits are free on Fuse and cost 0.03% to 0.1% from other networks. No ATM access, as the card is virtual-only.
- Conditions25%4.0 / 5
Core pays 3% with no requirement. Under Solid's Rewards terms updated on 2 October 2026, Prime's 4% needs a $199 yearly subscription or 50,000 FUSE locked for 12 months, and points no longer unlock it. The score predates this change, when Prime could be reached by holding a withdrawable Savings balance.
- Rewards25%5.0 / 5
For a $1,500/month spender, the free Core tier pays 3% in USDC, about $45, within its $50 cap. Prime pays 4%, about $60, within its $100 cap, but under the Rewards terms updated on 2 October 2026 it needs a $199 yearly subscription or 50,000 FUSE locked for 12 months instead of points. The score predates this change.
- Reliability25%3.5 / 5
Solid now publishes its full fee schedule, tier terms and country list, and its fee page clearly explains the total FX cost. The score reflects a detail that doesn't yet line up: some summary pages show only Solid's own FX fee (free at Ultra) rather than the 1% total. It is also a young product whose Rewards terms were revised on 2 and 6 October 2026. We'll happily review this score as these settle.
Solid is a strong self-custody debit card, and its Wirex rollout opens it to the UK and the whole EU. Its 3% Core cashback in USDC needs no staking, and Prime's 4% now needs a $199 yearly subscription or 50,000 FUSE locked for 12 months. The trade-offs are the $50/$100/$200 monthly cashback caps, a 2% total FX cost on non-USD purchases at Core, and a virtual-only card with no ATM access.
Four criteria, each worth 25%, scored by us against the issuer's published terms — the total above is their average, not a separate judgement. Scored September 18, 2026. Read the full scoring model. No issuer can pay to change a score.
The card at a glance
Earning Up to 5%
The headline rate is usually the top of a band, not a flat rate on everything. In practice most spending earns the base rate, and the higher figure applies to selected merchants, campaigns or staking tiers.
Up to 5%, paid in USDC.
- USDC cashback: 3% Core, 4% Prime, 5% Ultra; monthly caps of $50, $100 and $200.
- Credited 14 days after the purchase settles, into Savings, where it is converted to yield-bearing soUSD.
- Since 5 October 2026, Prime and Ultra also earn category cashback at named merchants, in place of the regular rate: 10% (Prime) or 20% (Ultra) on AI tools, streaming and music, 8% or 10% on rides, and 10% on direct airline bookings for Ultra.
- Only the first purchase in each category each month gets the category rate, and it counts toward the same monthly cap.
- Subscriptions already paid with the card before 5 October keep the earlier 25% or 50%.
- Under the Rewards terms, last updated on 6 October 2026, Prime needs $199 a year or a 12-month FUSE lock and Ultra a 12-month FUSE lock; points no longer unlock tiers.
