SolCard's card agreement, last updated on 27 September 2026, adds a dormancy fee: after 90 days of inactivity, SolCard may take up to 10% of the card balance every month. The SolCard site has also added a physical card and a page for US users.

How the dormancy fee works

The agreement treats an account as dormant when it has had no login, no card transaction and no top-up for 90 consecutive days. While it is dormant, SolCard "reserves the right, but is not obliged" to charge each card balance 10% of the remaining balance per month. If less than $1 would be left, it may take the whole balance.

Any login, purchase or top-up ends dormancy and stops further fees. The agreement adds that inactivity before the new term took effect counts toward the 90 days, and that SolCard may waive or refund the fee case by case.

For comparison, most crypto cards that charge for inactivity take a flat amount after a year: €10 a month on the Bitrefill Card and US$5.95 a month on the Crypto.com Visa, both after 12 months. More in our guide to inactivity fees.

A physical card, and a page for US users

SolCard now offers two cards:

  • Virtual card: $10 to issue, a $5,000 monthly limit, a 5% top-up fee and 1–2% FX.
  • Platinum card: a physical card with Apple Pay, no spending limit, no top-up fee, FX of 0–1.5% and priority support. It needs identity verification.

A new page on SolCard's site says the card is "Available for US Citizens" and that physical cards are "shipped to US addresses for in-store and ATM use". The agreement's only named exclusion is Hong Kong, alongside countries under comprehensive UN, US, EU or UK sanctions. SolCard publishes no ATM fee.

SolCard pays no cashback: purchases earn prize-draw entries.

Common questions

When does SolCard's dormancy fee apply?

When an account has had no login, no card transaction and no top-up for 90 days in a row. SolCard may then charge up to 10% of each card balance per month, or the whole balance if less than $1 would remain. SolCard says charging it is at its discretion.

How do I avoid the SolCard dormancy fee?

Log in, make a purchase or top up at least once every 90 days. Any one of those ends the dormant period and stops further fees. The agreement says inactivity before the new term took effect counts toward the 90 days.

Can US residents get a SolCard?

SolCard now has a page saying the card is available for US citizens and that physical cards are shipped to US addresses. Its card agreement names Hong Kong and countries under comprehensive UN, US, EU or UK sanctions as excluded, and does not exclude the United States.
