What Changes for Crypto Cards on 1 October 2026

Four things land within a week: MEXC's 1% fee returns, Crypto.com adds FX fees in Europe and the UK, Gnosis Pay stops new cards, and COCA's Apple offer ends.

Four changes we have already reported land within a week of each other. Three cost cardholders money; one is a deadline to act on. All four dates come from the issuers' own pages.

30 September: two deadlines

  • [Gnosis Pay](/cards/gnosis-pay-card/) stops issuing cards. New signups end, no new cards are issued on existing accounts, and the GNO cashback programme closes. Existing cards keep working until each partner app moves to the new platform, and the card winds up by the end of 2026. The full detail is in our report.
  • The Apple offer on the [COCA Visa Card](/cards/coca-visa-card/) ends. Up to 9% back on Apple products, capped at $135, running to 30 September.

1 October: two cards get more expensive

[MEXC Global Card](/cards/mexc-global-card/): the 1% transaction fee returns. MEXC waived it from launch on 31 August through 30 September. Cashback is unchanged at 4% to 10% by tier, so the fee comes straight off the top: the entry tier's 4% becomes about 3% net, or roughly $45 a month on $1,500 of spending instead of $60. Our explainer covers how the tiers and caps work.

[Crypto.com Visa](/cards/crypto-com/): FX fees arrive for three tiers in Europe and the UK. Ruby Steel, Jade Green and Royal Indigo have paid no foreign transaction fee until now. From 1 October they pay 0.2% on non-EUR (or non-GBP) spending inside the EU and UK, and 2% outside it after a monthly allowance — €400 on Ruby, €800 on Jade and Indigo. The inactivity fee, charged after 12 months without card activity, rises to €6 in Europe and £6 in the UK. The detail is here.

What it means if you are choosing now

A fee that arrives after you have picked a card is the most common way a "best" card stops being the best one. Two of the four changes above are exactly that.

If you are comparing cards this week, our fees table shows FX, ATM and annual costs side by side, and how cashback caps work explains why a headline rate and what you actually earn are rarely the same number.

Common questions

What happens to the MEXC Global Card on 1 October 2026?

Its 1% transaction fee applies again. MEXC waived the fee from the card's launch on 31 August through 30 September 2026. Cashback rates and caps do not change, so the net return drops by roughly one percentage point.

Which Crypto.com cards pay FX fees from 1 October 2026?

Ruby Steel, Jade Green and Royal Indigo in Europe and the UK. They pay 0.2% on foreign-currency spending inside the EU and UK, and 2% outside it once past a monthly allowance of €400 (Ruby) or €800 (Jade and Indigo). The inactivity fee also rises to €6 and £6.

Is it the last week to get a Gnosis Pay card?

Yes. Gnosis Pay stops new card signups and stops issuing new cards on existing accounts on 30 September 2026, and its GNO cashback programme ends the same day. Existing cards keep working until cardholders move to a partner app.
